Manyawuza looked after the cattle when she was growing up in Cofimvaba in the Eastern Cape, which is traditionally boys’ work. “I was a real tomboy and not at all interested in girls games,” she laughs. Manyawuza came to Cape Town in 1982 to look for work. She has three children and three grandchildren.
Like all mothers, Manyawuzu wants her children to have a better life. “It is my dream that my last born child, Wendy, completes her schooling then goes on to study further.”
