one another is an ethical lifestyle label that partners with talented women artisans living in some of the most challenging regions in the world.
It’s estimated that approximately 2.5 billion people around the world live in poverty. Women are typically poorer and have fewer options for earning a livelihood to provide adequate food, housing and education. They are also often the ‘change agents’ and are more likely to invest their earnings into improving the lives of their families.
One Another works directly with collectives located in Bangladesh, India and South Africa, helping provide employment to over 30 women and empower them to rise above poverty.
One Another also has a program called One Cushion One Week. In partnership with Opportunity International Australia, every cushion that is sold on oneanother.com.au will provide one week of a small loan to a woman living in poverty, enabling them to start and grow their own business. It might be for a small grocery store, farm, fruit and vegetable stall, bakery or tailor.
By investing in women we hope to provide a sustainable transformation where mothers can put food on the table, send their children to school and create a better future for their families.
about opportunity international australia
Opportunity International Australia is a non-profit organisation that provides people living in poverty with the opportunity to transform their lives. Offering a hand up rather than a handout, we use a sustainable approach to solve poverty – empowering families through community development programs and small loans to help them grow their own small business. These services mean that families no longer have to struggle to afford food, water, healthcare and an education for their children.
"Rick and Annette have created not only a beautiful product but a business which at it's core is helping mothers leave poverty behind. Thanks to their support, Opportunity International Australia is making a difference in the lives of people who desperately need our help," Robert Dunn, Chief Executive Officer, Opportunity International Australia.
